Behind Samproma
An eye for color.
A feel for people.
I’m Moutar Sampil, the photographer and creator behind Samproma Media.

It started with a camera
and a group of friends.
I’ve always loved creating and documenting, from making YouTube videos with my brother to filming short-form comedy clips. My connection to photography began when I took my dad’s unused digital camera, which he had used for his textile business, to a three-week summer camp during high school.
It was my first time away from home. One photograph of the friends I made there became our group’s signature image. They loved the image, and their happiness showed me what a photograph could mean: even as friendships change and moments pass, the photograph remains.
That feeling is still at the center of my work. I want people to feel seen, celebrated, and comfortable being themselves, whether we’re creating a portrait or capturing a room full of energy.

Founder & photographer, Samproma Media

Rooted in family. Shaped by culture.
A name with a story.
Samproma takes its name from my family name, Sampil, honoring my Guinean heritage. The woven blue identity echoes that connection to textiles, family, and the camera that first brought photography into my life.
Rooted in that heritage, my work celebrates culture, individuality, and connection. Every person brings their own story, and I want my photographs to reflect who they are and what matters to them.
What I bring
Thoughtful light.
Rich color. Real connection.
My approach combines preparation, an engaging session, intentional lighting, and careful editing. Based in Newark, I photograph people and experiences across New Jersey and New York City.
